Pretty cool day today, we hooked up with part of the Lycian Path that winds through the Lycian sand dunes. The Lycians settled in this area around 500 AD but were basically wiped out by the Romans by 50 BC.The Lycian path starts in Fetiye and ends in Antalya. We just touched on a small fraction of it.
I've actually never really set foot on a sand dune landscape so it was an exciting experience( you can see my reaction on the video )
I can see why the sand storms in the the middle east can be so destructive and dangerous. We only lasted about 30 min and the intensity of the wind blowing sand became too much, we were basically eating it!
Though I was wishing I had one of those sand boards, the dunes were dramatic and steep in many places and a sand board would have been awesome!
Overall a great day for our last day in Patara Beach, we met a nice couple from Germany who we spent a big part of the day with. We actually met them last night and sat up til the wee hours chatting. They both have pretty cool stories and are just easy to talk with. We're going the same direction so we may see them in Cirali too which is our next stop.
Its been over a month now since we have been on the road and something that I am finding so powerful is how personal reflection has become such a regular occurrence. I find myself
sitting in the morning with my tea just reflecting on the previous days activities, the people I have met, the things I have seen, or even the struggles involved in such a big trip and it is a rewarding and emotional experience. I enjoy my morning reflection and I think its something that directs me to that essence of life that we took this trip to get closer to.
Well, off to have some
of Aysha's incredible cooking! :)
