Moments after my last entry Nina and Ira surprised us on our walk down for a bite to eat and we enjoyed a last visit together before we left for Antalya.
We found a groovy little beach bar near Olympos beach (that was playing jack Johnson as an added bonus!) and had a delightful time just chilling and visiting.
Nina had mentioned that she had been thinking about Mexico as a next destination so Niki and I tried to convince them to come for a visit while we are there in the new year. I could see them thinking about it so I hope they will (and if they are reading this then there is another plug!)
We couldn't have planned a more perfect last day!
As I mentioned we had met a friendly German family, a mother(Yasmin) her
son (Dominic) and their grandmother( who I just call grandma) and shared a private transfer to Antalya. It worked out to be cheaper than the dolmus and
much faster.
Though I have loved all the laid back beach towns we have visited I am thrilled to be in Antalya. This seaside city is absolutely charming! We are staying in Kaleici, the old quarter of the city and the winding ottoman streets are just a maze of cafes boutique shops and hotels as well as old
restored ottoman houses.
After an hour walking around, Yasmin pointed out a for sale sign on an old ottoman house that needed some renovations. Niki and I actually both
looked at each other and chatted for a few minutes on how perfect the building was for a B&B. That is the power Antalya has had on us!
Yasmin took us to an off the beaten
path Turkish restaurant and we enjoyed an enormous amount of food and enjoyed visiting with her and her family.
This is a wandering town, our only
plan tomorrow is to lose ourselves in
the old Ottoman streets and for the first time on this trip, do some shopping! Niki is pretty excited about this as am I.
Off to bed:)
