Well, since my post yesterday,we have been um.....doing pretty much nothing and that has been nice:)
Maybe nothing is an exaggeration, rather we have put being a traveler to the side for a couple days and decided to take some downtime (a"weekend" if you will)for ourselves and it has been fantastic!
It started with our great breakfast at Lotus Cafe yesterday morning( where i posted from)and then continued to Celebration Plaza where I got my haircut. It included an incredible and spoiling head massage! My stylist spoke very little English but knew the key words in the hair world(short here, long here, trim) and he did a fabulous
job (you may recall i was a little nervous going in).
Not only was my hair becoming a birds nest but the pampering and shutting off of the brain for an hour and a half felt great. The first half hour of the cut was the wash and massage which Raul was a master at. And the cut was masterful as well, he acted like Mr. Miagi(Karate Kid reference) trimming the Bonzi trees! Just great care and attention to every little strand.
At the same time Niki had a pedicure and I'm sure she we will tell you how pampered she was also!
We then carried on with the indulging by heading to our favorite cafe here in India, Cafe Coffee Day and indulged in a Cappachino and chocolate cake. Our bodies were slowly coming back to life. We then took a Tuk Tuk to a shopping district known as Chitak Circle where we bought some Xmas gifts and headed back to our hotel. We then attempted to go to a Yoga class but unfortunately it took us about 45 minute to find the yoga studio( which was really only a 5 minute walk away!). Street signs here don't exist and being at night it was even more difficult as streets are poorly lit but we did find it and are going tonight! We then headed to Pushkar cafe, a restaurant that was regarded well on Trip Advisor and it lived up to its grade, met two guys from South England and exchanged stories, one of them said, "what amazes me about India is how my mood can change by the hour, at one moment I am pulling my hair out and the next reveling in its beauty" I thought that summed it up quite well:)
All and all a great day yesterday which we repeated today to call it a proper weekend. We booked in for a massage down the street from our hotel which was fantastic! I'll never get used to my buttocks being massaged but when you request your back they always include the top half of your butt which actually does feel therapeutic!
After getting oiled up and relaxed we are now just watching the last day of the Neviti festival parades go by(and listening to the frequent pop rockets go off which startle me every time even though I expect them!)
Its been a good couple days off from being a traveler, the pampering has brought us back to life again, we have been on the road for over two months and have taken in so much that a "weekend" away from being a traveler has been beautiful. Sorry no photos or video, unless you want to see us getting pampered and bumming around cafes!
Back to the traveler world tomorrow as we have booked a driver to the largest Jain Temple in the world which has 1444 columns and is made entirely of marble. It's a 3 hour drive away and apparently the road there is quite dodgy with many cliffs and
such so I'm sure you will hear an earful tomorrow! :) (if our parents are reading I promise we hired a safe and reputable driver!)
UPDATE: On the walk home we got mobbed by a group of paraders dressed as monkeys carrying sticks and we stick danced to our hearts content! Sorry no photos,we were virtually flash mobbed!
