L.A.Times Day 3 (by Josh)

We woke up the next day feeling pretty excited as my brother offered to show us his trade by shooting a music video for the wedding song I wrote for Niki. Not only was it great hanging out with my brother but we had a fantastic time pretending we were celebs down at Santa Monica beach. My brother used honed technical expertise and had me pose and sing "waiting for Niki" numerous times while we caught the right lighting and good luck of waves crashing up against the rocks at just the right time. I will let on I have since seen the video, and he did an incredible job! He is definitely talented at his art. Anyone looking for video production contact me and I can put you in touch:)
Tourists meandered by taking shots of all of us just in case it ended up we were famous! Jon did a great job of making the whole experience fun and goofy and Niki and I found ourselves laughing continuously the whole afternoon!

The good times continued as we all went for lunch at one of Jon's favourite haunts in Venice, they had delicious paninis and tasty homemade donuts. We just sat and visited and enjoyed hearing the "local scoop" of life in LA.

Having been in LA around 8 years he has interesting inside info on the good, bad and the ugly of LA and he entertained us with his stories. Most of all it was just nice to catch up with him
That evening we hit the dreaded traffic of LA once again(it's seriously ridiculous after seeing how others cities this size manage their traffic) to head downtown to Artwalk, which is a monthly little "get together" of LA's "Art Amoureaux". Having never spent anytime in downtown LA I was curious to check it out and very interested in the art scene. Jon had said that LA's urban sprawl issue had killed downtown so the city had pumped some serious funds to the revitalize the core. We started out at a local pub with some eats and drinks and worked on getting Maryam and Jon up to Victoria for a visit.

Spending time with my brother really made me realize how much I miss having a brother around so hopefully a visit to Victoria will be in the horizon. We then made our way through the streets to check out the scene. The concept of Artwalk is to celebrate and promote LA's local artists and galleries and so that we did, wandering in and out of a few galleries and eventually making our way to an upstairs loft style hall where the whines of a local band filled the air. The music was good and the drinks were cold so we ambled through the night enjoying ourselves with the accent of a little people watching.

For anyone in LA who want to avoid the banana pancake trail I recommend Art Walk tremendously, it as a nice piece of local flare and an inexpensive alternative to the turbo spending one can do in LA. It was indeed a good recommendation by my brother.
It was a great last day and evening in LA and a wonderful wind up with my brother and Maryam. We headed home that night and packed for the drive tomorrow. Tomorrow we hit central California to see my cousins!Peace:)
