Iceland (by Josh)

Well, Niki and I agreed that we would keep each others posts a secret until they were published to compare experiences. I have a sneaking suspicion that we will be on par today:)
It is so early on in our adventure I am trying to hesitate to be too emphatic about an experience but whether it was the jet lag or just the sheer beauty of it, today was a gem. I felt pretty chipper this morning amidst the little sleep( 3 hours would be stretching it)
Chilling at the Blue Lagoon
We hopped on bus to the Blue Lagoon and man it did not disappoint! Before even entering the water the blue hue itself was ethereal. A bright blue that almost looked frightening, like I would emerge after as a ninja turtle or the incredible hulk! I seriously questioned its properties! (I have no superpowers by the way since emerging, that was a rumor some dude at the airport told me,got me all excited!)
However it truly is a perfect temperature with a steam geyser in the middle of the lagoon spewing hot water and of course steam. It is chock a block full of minerals and the rumour has it they have anti aging properties. (I wasn't ID'd tonight so that didn't work out)
With the volcanic landscape around us we waded in the lagoon for over 3 hours, it was spectacular.
Then we headed into Reykjavik and found our guesthouse, ( i enjoyed the walk Niki will probably tell it differently:)
Colored buildings liven the city landscape

Totally cute suite right downtown and totally groovy city that is best explained as if Newfoundland and Amsterdam had sex, Reykjavik would be the offspring. Colorful houses wall to wall lining he streets with steel siding and fish and chips restaurants everywhere. Also, it's hard not to notice the freakishly large amount of blonde people here, it's like the children of the corn horror flick( just put volcanic rock in place of corn fields). However, people have been super friendly and welcoming and smiles are the norm around here.
Off to bed.....over and out.
